While there are plenty of new things to love about the new Miata, the 2020 Mazda MX-5 Miata carries over the same engine from the 2019 model. Nevertheless, the 2020 MX-5 Miata delivers an exceptional 181 horsepower and 151lb-ft of torque thanks to a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The electronically controlled fuel injection takes regular unleaded but premium unleaded is recommended. When paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the vehicle delivers a fuel economy rating of 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. With a six-speed automatic transmission, the Miata gets 35 mpg on the highway. While official stats are not given in terms of acceleration, the 2019 model went from 0 to 60 in less than six seconds, and since it's the same engine, it probably hasn't changed for 2020.

All three trim options, the Sport, Club and Grand Touring models, offer a ton of features. Standard features with the Sport trim ($26,580) include a push-button ignition, keyless entry, 12-volt power outlet, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, reclining bucket seats, and a Mazda Connect infotainment system. Included with the infotainment system is a 7-inch display, HD radio, Bluetooth, headrest speakers and more. With the Club trim ($30,290), you'll get more luxurious features such as a nine-speaker Bose audio system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, internet radio integration and two USB ports instead of one. The Grand Touring trim ($31,670) offers more automated features including automatic climate control. Optional features for the Miata include Napa leather seats and a soft-top roof.

In terms of safety, the Miata doesn't hold back for the sake of price. You'll get brake support, a rearview camera, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning and a tire pressure monitoring system among other things - all with the base trim. These features are designed to aid drivers, limiting human error, helping them stay safer on the road. They are not, however, a substitute for safe driving. You should still check your blind spot and scan regularly for cars just as you normally would.
